The ARPEGGIO seating system, designed by PRINCIPIOATTIVO Architecture Group for Diemme, has received the Gold Award in the Product Design category at the IIDA Italy International Design Award 2025, the international award dedicated to interior and product design.
A system designed to be (re)composed
ARPEGGIO was conceived as a modular system: a distinctive metal base, available in the three colours of the collection, supports independent cushions that can be combined in different configurations according to the space and its intended use. The name refers to the language of music not as a stylistic flourish, but because it aptly describes the principle behind the project: distinct elements that, when combined, create a coherent whole. Armrests, backrests, ottomans, side tables and accessories can be added or removed, without constraining the seating to a single configuration.
This compositional logic is also what allows ARPEGGIO to adapt to very different settings: a domestic living area, an office lounge or a large-scale contract space. It is not simply a seating collection offered in three versions, but a system that can be redesigned according to the needs of those who use it.
The award
The IIDA Italy International Design Award recognises interior and product design projects from around the world each year, selected for the quality of their design and their ability to respond to real needs. ARPEGGIO received the Gold Award in the Product Design category in the 2025 edition: a recognition that considers both the product’s formal coherence and its design substance — its compositional freedom, variety of configurations, and attention to materials and colour combinations.
For Diemme and PRINCIPIOATTIVO Architecture Group, this award confirms a clear design direction: products that do more than furnish a space, enhancing the user experience while leaving people free to adapt them to their own needs.
The project and its details
ARPEGGIO is available in a wide range of combinations of colours, fabrics and textures, including within the same module. This allows the system to remain understated in some settings or become a focal point of the space in others. The clean lines and geometric shapes of its elements create generous surfaces designed to be experienced in different ways — for working, reading, talking or simply relaxing.
