Every day we rise to the challenge of facilitating and improving other people’s lives. For this very reason, the space around us needs to adapt not only to our current needs, but also to the needs of future generations.

A LOOK TOWARDS THE FUTURE

FOR A BETTER WORLD

At Diemme we believe that the future quality of life is closely connected not merely to economic prosperity but also to a healthy and sustainable natural environment. And in our corporate culture this belief drives all our choices.

Right from the start of our journey we have been developing a series of objectives aimed at improving people’s lives and preserving our ecosystem: from attention to ergonomics to the choice of chemically safe materials, from the reduction of waste to the use of recyclable materials, from the use of clean and renewable energy to the reduction of plastic packaging.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

A JOURNEY TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability means making intelligent and efficient use of resources, preventing pollution, eliminating all forms of waste, designing and marketing eco-sustainable products made with recycled and chemically safer materials.

At the heart of our business strategy there is a culture of responsibility that runs right through and determines the entire production process: from the selection of sustainable and chemically safe raw materials, to products that are recyclable and easy to dispose of at the end of their lifecycles. We have always paid the utmost attention to durability, technological innovation and the quality of our products: the environment is a crucial aspect for us, as well as the main influence guiding our choices.
And it is precisely from this premise that the need arose to create a new type of upholstery for our seats: ONE.

ONE is our latest and most innovative fabric made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. A way of being environmentally responsible and of helping create a more sustainable future with an eye on the distinctive style and fashion of Made in Italy!
This journey started in 1995 when Diemme was founded and is now focused on maintaining these high standards through the use of increasingly sustainable and safe materials, production processes that are always informed by environmental needs, and the development of new products designed to contribute to people’s well-being and respect for our natural surroundings.

Disposal
We design chairs that can be disposed of at the end of their useful life through separated recycling. Like our brand new SKIN chair, for which we have specifically chosen low environmental impact components capable of protecting the environment and assuring eco-sustainability.

LCA (Life Cycle Assessment)
What are the potential impacts of our production processes on the environment and human health? We respond to this question with a daily commitment to the responsible design of every single product: we select the safest materials for humans and the environment, we develop products that can be disposed of through separated recycling at the end of their lifecycles, and we monitor our packaging to minimize the production of waste materials.

Recyclability
Most of the materials we use to make our chairs contain recycled and recyclable components, in order to minimize waste and the production of unnecessary parts. Thenew Diemme SKIN task chair, for example, is built with regenerated materials and with as few non-recyclable components as possible, to maximize separation for subsequent disposal.

CONFORMITY - CERTIFICATIONS

FSC®

FSC® is a global, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forest management worldwide. FSC® certification defines standards based on agreed principles for responsible forest management that are supported by environmental, social and economic stakeholders. To find out more, visit www.fsc.org

ISO 14001
ISO 14001 is a voluntary international standard, applicable to any type of public or private organisation, which specifies the requirements of an environmental management system.

ISO 9001
This is the international standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS) and contains a collection of policies, processes, documented procedures and records that define the internal rules in accordance with which the company creates and supplies products to customers.

CAM – Minimum Environmental Criteria
This conformity is officially recognized in Italy, and adheres to the European Union directives on the use of recyclable components and low chemical emissions. Essentially, the Minimum Environmental Criteria are the environmental requirements defined for the various stages of the purchasing process, with the aim of identifying the best design solution, product or service from an environmental point of view throughout its lifecycle.

1 IM
This nationally recognized approval evaluates the fire rating of upholstered furniture including sofas, armchairs and office seating. The results are based on 3 values: 1 IM (the best performing class in terms of fire protection), 2 IM and 3 IM. This approval is compulsory for public bodies and for companies/venues with at least 100 seats, but it is also strongly recommended where there are fewer seats.

UNI EN-1335
The UNI EN 1335 standard defines the characteristics of the various classes of ergonomic chairs and determines their compliance with the provisions of Legislative Decree 81/2008 for health and safety in the workplace. This certification confirms the ergonomics of the office chair and takes into account a whole range of possible positions: the adjustable seat depth, the seat and backrest angle, the height of the adjustable lumbar support, the height and width adjustment of the armrests as well as the seat height.

UNI EN 16139
This standard specifies requirements for the safety, strength and durability of all types of non-domestic adult seating intended for users weighing not more than 110 kg, and includes office visitor chairs. The standard does not apply to beam, linked, outdoor or educational seating, or to office chairs; standards exist for these also at European level. Neither does this standard apply to work chairs for industrial use. The European standard does not include requirements for resistance to ageing, wear and tear, or flammability.

ERGONOMICS

FOR A HEALTHIER WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Living and working in a healthy and safe environment, promoting compliance with safety and well-being standards – both at work and at home – and preventing injuries and illnesses linked to poor posture: these are our commitments to users of Diemme seating.

Promoting people’s health and well-being is part of our commitment to a better world. Our decades of experience in the office chair sector allow us to create modern and functional workstations, which are above all ergonomically safe, because many workplace accidents can be prevented by maintaining correct posture.
From this stems our obsessive attention to ‘wellness technology’, such as the self-weighting synchronized retractable mechanism of the VELVET chair – one of our most recent innovations – and the retractable lumbar support, also adjustable when seated, of SKIN.

The light and fluid shapes of the SKIN backrest hide very important dynamic and functional aspects: on the one hand the innovative lumbar support with 3D movement, adjustable in height using levers that are easily accessible while seated, and coming soon a brand new retractable synchronized mechanism! Furthermore, the supporting structure of SKIN, in partially regenerated polypropylene, has a composition which makes it unusually flexible for its users, thus allowing maximum freedom and an ergonomic sit in all positions.
